Wednesday

CQ Wednesday was packed with entertainment from dawn till dusk. Morning activities brought about everything from making flubber to making body glitter, in addition to the traditional fishing, archery, and canoeing.

After feet’s up the carnival was in full swing. Those strawberries might have looked innocent enough, but many campers and companions can attest to the fact that the strawberries spin faster than they appear. The inflatable slides and the 4-story metal slide showed everyone how powerful gravity is as campers flew down them at record speeds. Some of you discovered how photogenic you are when the cartoon artist drew your animated side while others spent time with some four-legged friends from the kennel club.

As the sun was setting, we all enjoyed a very special rainbow that was created just for CQ! It was a great chance to dance and play in the rainbow! Did anyone catch that rascally little leprechaun running around at the lake?

The younger campers had a visit from a very special guest that most kinds only get to see once a year while a number of campers were colling off at the CQ Pool Party.

Prom was certainly “A Knight to Remember” with the surrounding scenery of the lake and the stars, everyone felt free to dance the night away. And that’s just what they did. From pictures to punch, everything was in perfect order for a great night of fun. Cabin loads were ushered to the affair in true prom style with the limousines. The campers were greeted with a fire lit path to a sparkling lit tent complete with castle and dance floor. The ladies of CQ were dressed to the hilt with stunning gowns and lovely hair. The men of CQ decided to put their own twist on their ensembles Dorm 2 lost their jackets and donned sunglasses while the Dawg Pound ditched the shoes and the ties in favor of hats and ’sneaks. Camper Jack even opted for socks while Gabe showed his country roots in jeans, Regardless of the wardrobe choices, everyone had a great time.

CQ Tuesday was as exciting as they come. With morning activities all over the grounds and Gray Eagle making flutes once again for campers, every one’s spirits were high. The annual trip to Cameron was a huge success with campers enjoying there time at the poop, roller skating, or playing put put golf.

The day didn’t slow down one bit when we returned from Cameron. The search for hidden treasure was in full swing following the pirate show. We know you loved that show! (If you didn’t you might keep it to yourself. Those guys were the real deal and might just make you walk the plank!)

The Aztec dancers still had enough energy to put on a great show, despite the long trip from Las Angeles. Those costumes sure were amazing, weren’t they?! We have some certified mermaids …… er, mer people …. in our midst. Some of the older campers got to enjoy the experience of breathing under water at the scuba trip in St Joe.

The night ended with the new twist of a black light dance. Those lights sure showed off your glowing personalities … and your white cloths! Midnight Express made us dance until we dropped, but we persevered long enough to go hear some stories from Gray Eagle, unless of course you had the opportunity to party it up with the pillow parties Talk about a rowdy crew

Everyone was welcomed by a delicious breakfast of biscuits and gravy. Once everyone had thoroughly enjoyed breakfast we gathered at the flag pole for flag raising. At flag raising we were told of the days important announcements as well as what the kids could make in crafts that day.

The campers enjoyed crafts, horse rides, fishing, archery, and so much more. After lunch the campers then headed off to feets-up where everyone was able to rest up for all of the afternoon fun.

The campers were treated to an afternoon baseball game. This was no ordinary ball game however. What made this game so special you ask? Well there was one added element to this fun game of baseball. This element was donkeys. Yes I did say donkeys, the object of the game was to hit the ball jump on a donkey and run the bases. The fielding team however had to filed the ball while trying to stay on their donkeys. It was pretty much shear madness and lots of laughter and smiles. After the ball game came to and end there was a huge water fight provided by the local fire department. There was also a “Hoppin’ Ducky pool party.

At dinner time we all took a trip down south and enjoyed a Cajun crawfish feast complete with a Cajun Band. A very funny comedy team and a magician entertained us while we let our tummies settle from dinner.

The day came to an end with a rockin’ dance and pillow parties for the younger campers.

This Just In ……….. THE CQ Scuttlebutt for Monday…..

Camper C.J.M. had caught the smallest fish it measured in at 4 inches.

Camper Foster P. attempted to eat an entire plate of mashed potatoes, but didn’t quite get the job done.

The Dog Pound has officially initiated most of the members into the Dog Pound. Don’t ask how it works because they might have to kill you if they told you. …

The Fireflies were awarded the first Pig Pen of 2007.

*************** GNOMES MIA ***************
We hear that gnome-napping has become the trendy thing to do…

Apparently, there are some wanna-be gnome thieves roaming these grounds. It’s obvious the rightful original gnome-nappers… err, owners… will eventually triumph since good always triumphs over evil..

The campers arrived around 3:00 pm, where they were surprised to have Kevin Sharp announcing their names and they hopped off the buses.

Once the campers out their stuff in their cabins they were treated to a magnificent carnival full of fun games and activities. There were motorcycle rides, limo rides, and fancy cars to look at. Plenty of cotton candy, funnel cakes, and freshly squeezed lemon aid to fill everyones bellies. Painted faces and tattoos were everywhere.

Later on in the afternoon we had a CQ kickoff concert featuring Kevin Sharp and True North. The evening was then concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
